Sina ERCAN

 

Prof.Dr.Sina Ercan received his M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree from the Marmara University in Istanbul, in 1993. He then became a specialist of Thoracic Surgery in the same university in 1999. During his specialty training he has completed some of his clerkships in Harvard Medical School as well as Cornell University. Then he continued his further training in the United States and has served in Leading healthcare institutions such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University as clinical fellow and then clinical instructor for 6 years during which he has mastered thoracic and cardiovascular surgery as well as lung transplantation. He returned to Turkey in 2005 and has been working as the chair of the Department of Thoracic Surgery in the Yeditepe University since then. He became Professor of Thoracic Surgery in 2012. He has served as the deputy medical director at the Yeditepe University Hospitals for 5 years, and medical director in the same institution for 15 months. He was then assigned and serving as the dean of the medical school since 2013. He has also been serving as the acting medical director in Medico-social Unit of the Yeditepe University since 2014. He was assigned as a member of the Board of Directors of the Yeditepe University in 2010 and continuing this responsibility since then. Prof.Ercan extensively served in the processes of international accreditation of the University Hospitals as well as the accreditation of the medical school education besides having served as both a member and the chair of Accreditation Commission of Turkish Thoracic Surgery Association for four years in the past. He is currently serving as a Member at the Higher Education Quality Board as well as the quality council of Yeditepe University. Prof.Ercan has conducted clinical researches in the field of Thoracic Surgery and published several articles in peer reviewed leading journals. He holds MS degree in Health Institutions Management. His foreign language is B2 level in English in addition to drafting and presentation skills.
