Fahri YAVUZ


 

Dr. Yavuz currently is a professor and chair in the Department of Agricultural Economics and serves as Head of the Office of International Affairs at Ataturk University since 2008. Dr. Yavuz completed his Bachelor at Atatürk University, Turkey in 1984, Master and PhD at Ohio State University, USA in 1992 and 1994 respectively. Seven years later he returned to the Ohio State University as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar. Dr. Yavuz has served as Bologna Expert in national team since 2009 and also coordinates the implementation of the Bologna Process at Ataturk University which ended with awards of Diploma Supplement Label (2011- 14) and ECTS label (2013-16) from European Commission. As part of the Bologna Process, he administers the Erasmus programme as Institutional Coordinator at the same university since 2008. Dr. Yavuz has also served as Advisor to Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in between 2004 and 2005. His focus was the harmonization of Turkish agricultural policies with the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. Besides his varied administrative duties, Dr. Yavuz has remained active as a teacher, researcher, and extension educator. He has been principal investigator for over $1 million in research funds. Dr. Yavuz also coordinated a 6 year extension project in Erzurum concerning the use of artificial insemination for cattle breeding funded with an EU Regional Development Programme and served as a member of advisory council for a research group in the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. He is still member of the commission for Associate Professorship Exam coordinated by Turkey's Inter Universities Council. His foreign language is C1 level in English in addition to drafting and presentation skills.
