Süheyda ATALAY


 

Süheyda Atalay is a full time professor in Chemical Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering in Ege University. She received her BSc and MSc degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1974 and 1976, respectively. She has been awarded by PhD in 1984. She has been working at Ege University Chemical Engineering Department since 1975 with different positions from Research Assistant to full time Professor. Beside the teaching responsibilities she has also been in charge of many administrative positions such as Head of Department, Member of Executive Administrative Committee and recently Dean of Faculty of Engineering. She is also serving as the Secretary General of Engineering Deans Council. At University level Professor Atalay is coordinating institutionally both international (ERASMUS) and national (FARABİ, MEVLANA) mobility programmes. She has been responsible for the implementation of ECTS/DS studies at Ege University. In 2003 first she was appointed as an ECTS/DS Counsellor of the European Commission and since 2004 she has actively studied on implementation and dissemination of Bologna Process actions in Turkish Higher Institutions as the member of the Turkish National Team of Bologna Experts. She was acted as a member of the Advisory Group on European Higher Education Area at Council of Higher Education (CoHE). She has a great experience on the accreditation of Engineering Programmes, she is one of the programme evaluator of engineering accreditation body in TURKEY, MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programmes). She has taken part in the thematic network projects "Teaching and Research in Engineering Education (TREE)" and "European and Global Engineering Education Academic Network (EUGENE)" which were supported by the European Comission. Her foreign language is C1 level in English in addition to drafting and presentation skills.
